ISLAMABAD, June 12 (APP):Senior Leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, Muhammad Farooq Sattar, on Wednesday proposed taxing large agricultural landowners to provide relief to the general public.
Refraining from commenting on the budget, he mentioned that he had presented a shadow budgetary document for review to make it more people-friendly.
Farooq further proposed that the government should use the income from privatized org
anizations to reduce the external debt burden on the national exchequer. He urged the government to establish a scientific mechanism for debt management.
He also recommended that the government should privatize loss-making org
anizations, emphasizing that business operations should fall under private entities’ jurisdiction rather than the government.
Farooq suggested that the government should further enhance Karachi’s infrastructure, highlighting its impor
tance as a business hub. He noted that investing Rs100 billion in the metropolitan city could boost the country’s annual growth rate by one percent.
He also called for a reduction in electricity, oil, and gas prices to improve the purchasing power of the common people. Additionally, he proposed providing sma
ll loans to help them become economically self-sufficient.
Furthermore, Farooq advocated for the launch of the Benazir Income Generation Programme, stating it would financially empower the poor.
